In a bid to prevent technical snags that lead to delays, the Delhi Metro has replaced insulators on the over head electrification (OHE) on the Blue Line, which is the busiest of all the existing corridors. The line that connects Dwarka to Noida and Vaishali has, by far, been the worst-hit corridor in terms of technical snags.
In the Delhi Metro network, OHE insulators are located at a gap of 40 metres and are supported by utility poles that ensure electricity does not pass on to the supporting mast or pole.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Mangu Singh visited the Yamuna Bank Depot station last night and took stock of the measures being taken by the OHE department in recent months to prevent any unwarranted failure on main lines. At the depot, he was also apprised about the latest practices being followed to ensure cleaning of trains with minimal water, which can later be recycled.
After the Yamuna Bank Depot, he visited six stations on the Dwarka route, namely Pragati Maidan, Barakhamba Road, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Nagar, Rajouri Garden and Janakpuri East.
At Barakhamba Road station, he inspected the new toilets for public in unpaid area, emergency evacuation system of the station and the latest safety and security measures provided to CISF.
