Muzaffarpur shelter rape case: High Court monitored CBI inquiry will be done, says Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday broke his silence over the Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual abuse case and said ‘a High Court monitored CBI inquiry’ into the case will be carried out.

The Opposition parties in the State have been demanding a High Court monitored CBI probe into the incident.

"I'm deeply hurt over the incident and there will be a High Court monitored inquiry into the incident,” said Mr.Kumar while addressing a government programme in Patna organised by state Social Welfare, Health and Education department.

Mr Kumar also said that there was a need to see a change in the system to prevent such incidents. "We can not tolerate such incidents which have ashmed us,” he said.

Dharna on Saturday

The Opposition party Rashtriya Janata Dal has called for a dharna on Saturday across the country over the incident.

Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Yadav is likely to sit on a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.The Left party had called Bihar bandh on Thursday as well.

It recently came to light that 34 minor girls living in the state-run Muzaffarpur shelter home were allegedly sexually abused.

Out of 11 accused persons 10, including the main accused Brajesh Thakur who was managing the NGO to run the shelter home, were arrested and sent to jail. The police have filed charge sheet against them in the case. Currently CBI is investigating the case.
