Union Minister of State (MoS) for Defence M M Pallam Raju today reviewed the security situation of Jammu and Kashmir at a high level meeting in Udhampur district here.
Mr. Raju chaired the meeting of commanders of Army at Northern Command Headquarters at Udhampur and reviewed security situation and counter infiltration measures along the Line of Control (LOC), Public Relation Officer Ministry of Defence (MoD), Jammu, S N Acharya said.
Mr. Raju completed his three day long visit of the Jammu region today.
The Minister also reviewed the Army’s infrastructural development projects and various initiatives taken by the force in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly civil action programmes, Mr. Acharya said.
Mr. Raju, who arrived this morning at Northern Command, was received by the General officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, Lt Gen K T Parnaik, Chief of Staff (COS), Lt Gen Jasbir Singh and Sub-Area Commander, Udhampur, Brig Sanjay Kulkarni.
MoS Defence patted the troops for their commendable role in stamping out militancy and controlling infiltration in the state.
He also reviewed project work of the first cable-stayed bridge on river Ravi in Basholi belt of Kathua district ahead of its inauguration on May 23 by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Defence Minister A K Antony.
