February 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:40 pm IST - SHIMLA:

After a man died of swine flu, the Himachal Pradesh government has directed the Health Department to take more precautionary measures.

Ajay Kumar, 37, was referred to the Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital from Solan at the weekend. He tested positive and then died. Six more patients have tested positive for the H1N1 virus, but they are recovering, said a hospital spokesman. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said on Tuesday that the government was monitoring the situation regularly, and there was no need for the people to panic.

Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur said all government hospitals were fully equipped to deal with the situation. All the health institutions in the State had been asked to give priority to swine flu cases.
