: The south-west monsoon hit Odisha triggering intermittent rain in southern districts like Koraput and Malkanagiri on Saturday.

According to Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, the south-west monsoon covered Malkangiri and a portion of Koraput district.

It added that the whole State would experience the monsoon in two days.

“Conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon to set in motion across Odisha in the next one or two days. Most parts of Odisha will continue to receive rainfall in a few places in the next one week,” said S. C. Sahu, Director of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, here on Saturday.

Although hardly any rain was traced across the State in the last 24 hours, the sky remained cloudy bringing down the daytime temperature. Maximum temperature was recorded well below 40 degree Celsius in many places.

The Odisha government has announced to conduct mock drill on management of flood and cyclone disaster in 428 multi-purpose flood and cyclone shelters on June 19.
