June 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - CUTTACK:

At least 15 school children had a miraculous escape when the van in which they were returning home was hit by a truck near Markatnagar under Bidanasi police station here on Saturday afternoon.

The police said the van of a public school carrying children aged between 10 and 15 years was hit by a cement-laden truck on the new PWD road. While the heavily damaged van skidded dangerously off the road, the occupants escaped with minor injuries.

The police said all the children were sent home after first aid. While both the vehicles have been impounded, the drivers managed to escape from the spot and are on the run, the police said.
