A policeman has been killed as militants attacked ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Abdul Majid Padroo in south Kashmir’s Kulgam on Saturday afternoon.Preliminary reports suggest that the cavalcade of Mr. Padroo came under fire at Nandmarg crossing in Noorabad constituency.
A police official said the policeman, identified as Khurshid Ahmad, died on the spot while another was injured. Ahmad was working as a driver. The MLA escaped unhurt in the attack.
The area has been cordoned off.
