Army has busted a hideout in a cave in the mountains of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir and recovered arms and ammunition used by militants, a defence official said on Sunday.
“On February 3, the Army received inputs about movement of two foreign terrorists in the forests of Chhanadaji, a village about 10 km north of Bandipora,” a defence spokesman said.
He said Army personnel along with Special Task Force of J&K police launched search operations in the forests overlooking the village.
“The forests in the area are dense and snow in the higher reaches made movement extremely difficult. The Army troops and STF were able to track down the hideout being used by the terrorists in a mountain cave on steep cliffs,” he said.
The spokesman said the recoveries from the hideout include one AK-47 rifle with 200 live bullets, four pistols of Pakistan origin with 15 bullets and a Chinese hand grenade.
Search operations were on till late evening to track down the terrorists, he added.
