Memorial to be set up in memory of 1857 mutiny martyrs

The Haryana government on Sunday announced that the State will set up a memorial for the martyrs of 1857 mutiny at Ambala Cantonment on the National Highway-1.

“It will have memorial for Jhansi Ki Rani - Lakshmibai, Tatya Tope besides martyrs of Haryana and other States who attained martyrdom in the 1857 mutiny,” Haryana’s Health, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij said.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would lay foundation stone of Memorial on May 11 after which its construction work would pick up pace, he said.

Addressing the people after ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ ceremony at the memorial site on the Ambala-Delhi highway, Mr. Vij said that the setting up of this memorial is historic and future generations would always remember the present government for this important step. - PTI
