A 22-year-old student was critically injured in his bid to foil a snatching attempt by two men in South-East Delhi’s Batla House on Wednesday. Sadaab Saeed has been admitted to a private hospital, where his condition is stated to be serious.

The incident was captured on a CCTV camera and the footage is being used to zero in on the suspects.

According to his friend Imran, Sadaab was trying to prevent his mobile phone from being snatched while on the way back home from a party at Imran’s house.

“By the time we left, it was around 1 a.m. Sadaab and I were walking towards his house when he received a call and started walking ahead. He was in a lane when I heard his calls for help, followed by two gunshots. By the time I reached the lane, two men were speeding away on a bike and a bleeding Sadaab was lying facedown on the road,” recalled Imran.

A case under Section 307 of the IPC has been registered.
