One person was killed and another injured on Wednesday in a chemical container fire in a yard at Dronagiri area in Uran taluka, Navi Mumbai.
Deepak Bhagwan Popatghat, a staff of The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, died of burns while conducting a check on samples of peas, the police said. “He had gone to the container yard to inspect samples. While checking, smoke started emanating from a nearby chemical container. It caught fire and [Mr. Popatghat] was killed. His driver escaped with a minor injury. We have filed an accidental death report,” the Uran police said.
