A man was on Monday booked on charges of defrauding about 20 unemployed youths of Rs.1.42 crore on the pretext of getting them jobs, the police said.

A complaint was lodged at Dalmiya Nagar police station in Bihar’s Rohtas district by two victims, Nitish Kumar and Manish Kumar, accusing one Manoj Kumar of swindling about 20 persons of Rs.1.42 crore, Superintendent of Police Shivdeep Lande said.

The victims alleged that Manoj of Dalmiya Nagar town cheated them on the pretext of getting them government jobs in Jharkhand Secretariat earlier this year, Mr.Lande said.

They claimed that the accused took Rs.9 lakh from some of them for jobs as the secretariat assistant and Rs.7 lakh for clerical jobs, but neither did he get them jobs nor he got the money back, the SP said.
