Maharashtra to award villages

September 23, 2011 02:56 am | Updated 03:42 am IST - Mumbai:

The Maharashtra government plans a campaign that will culminate in award of prizes to villages that bring down child malnutrition, up to six years of age.

Under the Rajmata Jijau Malnutrition-free Gram Abhiyan campaign, villages in non-adivasi districts will be given Rs. 1,000 each if they bring severely underweight children in the normal category.

In adivasi districts, the award will be Rs.10,000 for a village that achieves 100 per cent target, and also graded targets of bringing a certain percentage of children in the normal category.
