After a big search exercise that saw the deployment of more than 50 forest guards, a leopard that entered the Gujarat Secretariat in Gandhinagar in the early hours of the day was captured by forest officials from a park adjacent to the campus by Monday evening.

The leopard was tranquillised and taken in a tractor trolley by the forest guards.

While it is unclear how the feline sneaked into a guarded premises, footage obtained from CCTV cameras show the animal entering the Secretariat around 1 a.m.

The police closed all the six gates and barred people, including Ministers and bureaucrats, from entering the compound.
