Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad celebrated his 68th birthday on Thursday and said he was still young enough to take on the BJP in the Bihar Assembly polls.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited him with a bouquet of 68 red roses.
The foes-turned-friends hugged each other, apparently to send out the message that all was well between them.
Though he is not sure of the date of his birth, he celebrates it every year on June 11, which his “elder brother had mentioned in the school register at the time of admission.”
“Even after my heart surgery last year, I’m still young and full of energy to take on the BJP in the polls,” Mr. Lalu Prasad said.
“I decided to declare Nitish Kumar our CM candidate so as to stop the BJP from coming to power. The entire country is watching the Bihar polls and the outcome will prove to be the Waterloo for the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
