Lal Thanhawla was unanimously re-elected leader of the Mizoram Congress Legislature Party by the newly elected MLAs of the ruling party on Wednesday. He will be sworn in as Chief Minister, for a record fifth term, on Saturday.
The Congress won 33 of the 39 seats in the 40-member Assembly. It was also leading in Lawngtlai, where results were withheld due to a technical snag in an electronic voting machine at a booth.
Mr. Lal Thanhawla told The Hindu that his priorities would be increasing the State’s own power generation, expediting hydropower projects and improving road connectivity.
