Suspected militants triggered three grenade explosions in Srinagar, Shopian and Pulwama districts on Friday afternoon. There were no reports of any casualty, an official said.

Unknown militants lobbed a grenade near the busy Ghanta Ghar in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk, which houses CRPF’s bunkers in its vicinity. “We cordoned off the area to nab the attackers,” said an official.

Three policemen injured

Earlier on Thursday, militants had thrown a grenade at a group of policemen at Rajbagh, injuring three of them. The Jaish-e-Muhammad claimed the responsibility for the attack.

In a separate incident, a grenade exploded outside the camp of the State police’s Special Operation Group camp in Shopian’s Gagren.

The JeM has again claimed responsibility for both the Srinagar and Shopian blasts.

In the third attack, militants fired a grenade towards the Kakapora Police Station in Pulwama. It exploded outside the station but no damage was reported.

R-Day advisory

The police have issued an advisory to officers “on maintaining vigil round-the-clock and setting up new check-points” ahead of Republic Day. The advisory also asked school managements “to not allow any stranger and give necessary precautionary instructions to students”.

The in-charge border police posts were also directed to keep a vigil on infiltration routes.
