A job scam in which people across the country were cheated on the pretext of being provided jobs under the Rajiv Awas Yojana has been busted with the arrest of six people.
Delhi Police had received information from the Prime Minister’s Office about people being cheated in the name of this scheme.
“The accused allegedly published advertisements regarding government jobs in leading newspapers across India,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
The suspects conducted fake interviews, sent forged appointment letters and even induced victims to deposit large amounts of money in bank accounts the suspects had opened using fake identity proofs.
They even impersonated government officers, said Mr. Yadav.
Investigations revealed the racket was being run from Ghaziabad. A raid led to the arrest of Samar, Javed, Abhishek and Manoj.
