Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Legislature Party (JMM-LP) leader Hemant Soren called for a meeting of party MLAs on Tuesday to finalise a date to call on Governor Syed Ahmad and stake claim for formation of a new government in the state.

“Hemant Soren, our CLP leader and CM candidate, has convened JMM-LP meeting in which the date will be decided for staking claim to form government”, JMM’s General Secretary Suprio Bhattacharya said in Ranchi.

“We are ready with the list”, he said referring to the list of 42 MLAs in a house of 82 members including one nominated MLA who has voting right.

“We’ll announce after the meeting tomorrow”, said Mr. Bhattacharya when asked whether the party would stake claim on Tuesday itself.

The JMM-Congress-RJD parties have a total of 36 MLAs and they reportedly received the support of six independent MLAs, taking it to 41 MLAs.

Marxist Coordination Committee (MCC) MLA Arup Chatterjee is in a discussion with the JMM now.

“Our party is in discussion with the JMM leadership. We will extend support to them if they agree on some developmental issues”, Mr. Chatterjee said.
