Lawyers seek 12-week bail

They sought a 12-week provisional bail on health grounds but the court granted only six weeks.

Though, Mr. Singhvi refused to speak to the media in Ranchi, Mr. Kumar said, “Prasad has been granted six weeks provisional bail on medical ground…it will be effective from the date of his release from the jail. The court has prohibited Prasad from holding any political rally during the bail period.”

“After the expiry of his parole, Prasad has to come back to the Ranchi jail, and once the order reaches the prison, he will be released on provisional bail for six weeks for medical check-up,” said Prasad’s counsel.

Prasad has been in the Birsa Munda Central jail after being convicted in different fodder scam cases since December 23, 2017.

Prasad was meeting yoga guru Ramdev at his residence in Patna when the news of the provisional bail was communicated to him. Mr. Ramdev is scheduled to attend Mr. Tej Pratap’s wedding.

“Its just a beginning of getting relief for our leader…we hope that Laluji will get relief from court in all cases in which he was sent to jail. We’ve full faith in judiciary,” RJD leader and party spokesperson Manoj Jha told journalists in Patna.
