An Army jawan was mauled to death and another injured in an attack by sloth bears on the banks of the Chambal river in Rajasthan’s Kota district on Monday. The mutilated body of the Garhwal Rifles’ jawan was found in a gorge.
The deceased, Surendra Singh Garhwal, 19, was among the Army personnel attending a training camp in Shambhupura area. He was walking towards the river, accompanied by a colleague, after the firing practice when the sloth bears attacked them.
