Jaguar fighter aircraft crashes near Allahabad

A Jaguar fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Tuesday crashed while on training sortie near Allahabad.

Both the pilots had ejected, IAF officials said, adding efforts were on to find them.

The aircraft crashed near a warehouse of Food Corporation of India at Naini, about 50 km from the Indian Air Force’s Central Air Command at Bamrauli on the outskirts of the city.

The aircraft took off from the Allahabad at 7:25 a.m. and crashed at around 8:47 a.m. nearly 18 km from the base.

A court of inquiry has been ordered.
