India-Pakistan NSA talks widely hailed in Kashmir Valley

The NSA-level talks between India and Pakistan in Bangkok raised hopes on Monday among both the mainstream and separatist political parties in Kashmir as they express desire that the two countries will take the talks to the logical end.

Calling the talks a “good beginning,” Chief Minister Muti Muhammad Sayeed praised the manner in which they were held. Separatists have welcomed the move, with caution though. “It’s beginning of the thaw. But what remains to be seen is how these two countries will evolve to engage public representatives from Kashmir.,” Hurriyat faction chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq told The Hindu.
