PANAJI: The fifth edition of the Como India Beach Fashion Week (IBFW) began at a coastal resort here on Thursday with an opening show by Anand Kabra.

Known for marrying the traditional with the contemporary, Mr. Kabra’s destination wedding collection comprised mainly of festive separates such as jackets, crop tops, skirts and anarkalis. The collection showcased his embroidery and prints in fabrics like chanderi, satin, georgette and silk.

Nidhi Munim’s swimwear and cruise wear collection was also a highlight of the first day of the show. Ms. Munim also launched her 2018 collection inspired by Grecian antiquity, with colours ranging from old rose, sand, olive and white in soft drapes. Showstopper Waluscha Dsouza took the stage in her Grecian-inspired creation.

Anupama Dayal’s collection, Le Optimiste, showed her love for tradition, with patchwork, tassels, and bits of print and embroidery adding a playful touch to the garments.

Vinisha made her debut with her Ethnic Bridal Collection with fabrics ranging from pure raw silk, net and georgette, and garments with perfect detailing and hand work as well as stylish silhouettes.

The Como Collective took the stage with the latest in swimwear, resort wear, cocktail and luxury pret collections, showcasing work by designers Rocky S., Anupama Dayal and Manoviraj Khosla.
