A rare and historic idol of Lord Raghunath, among other items, was stolen from the Ram Temple in Kullu town in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

Police have registered a case on the complaint of Danvendra Singh. Mr. Singh is the scion of the erstwhile Kullu royal family and son of Himachal Lokhit Party president and MLA Maheshwar Singh, who is also chief patron of the temple.

Two idols made of the ashtadhatu (eight-metal amalgam); a gold-covered stone statue of Narsingh Shila; a silver image of Lord Ganesha; a pair of charan paduka (deity’s footwear) and other ornaments have also been stolen, police said.
