Honour for Sriharikota Director

M.Y.S. Prasad, Director, Satish Dhawan Space Centre , Sriharikota, has been selected for the Vikram Sarabhai Memorial Award for 2014-15.

The Indian Science Congress Association presents the award every alternate year to India’s distinguished scientists for their outstanding contributions in different fields of science and technology. Dr. Prasad has been selected for his contributions to rocketry. The award carries a gold medal and a certificate.

Dr. Prasad has had a long and exceptional career in the Indian Space Research Organisation, steering its programmes for 40 years. He worked for 20 years in the ISRO’s launch vehicle development programmes and was part of the project team of SLV-3, the first indigenously developed launch vehicle.
