Himachal Cabinet Minister passes away

He was suffering from lung and liver ailments for past sometime and was admitted to AIIMS, New Delhi.

Himachal Pradesh Ayurveda and Cooperative Affairs Minister Karan Singh passed away in the wee hours on Friday.

He was suffering from lung and liver ailments for past sometime and was admitted to AIIMS, New Delhi.

Mr. Karan Singh (60) was the third time MLA from Banjar and was the younger brother of Kullu MLA and former BJP president Maheshwar Singh.

Mr. Singh was first elected to the Vidhan Sabha in 1990 and then in 1998 as a BJP member. He was then made Minister of State for Primary Education in the Dhumal government of 1998-2003.

He later joined Congress in 2012 and was made the Ayurveda Minister in 2015 by the Virbhadra Singh government.

He was survived by his wife Shivani Singh and son Aditya Vikram Singh.
