The Goa State Information Commission (GSIC) on Friday adjourned the final oral arguments on a complaint over the Raj Bhavan’s non-compliance with the Right to Information (RTI) Act, to August 24.

The complainant, activist-lawyer Aires Rodrigues, and the secretary to the Governor, Rupesh Thakur, have filed written arguments.

The complaint filed under Section 18 (1) (a) of the RTI Act by Mr. Rodrigues had said the Raj Bhavan, despite being a ‘public authority’ under Section 2 (h), has not appointed a public information officer and that it has also not made the mandatory disclosures under Section 4 (1). The activist-lawyer pointed out that all other Raj Bhavans and even the Rastrapathi Bhavan are complying with the RTI Act.
