The Haryana government on Sunday announced that in the wake of the warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms and dust storms issued for Haryana between May 7 and 8, all government and private schools across the State will remain closed on these two days.

Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said the decision has been taken after the Haryana Meteorological Department issued the weather warning.

‘No need to panic’

The Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Department said that there was no need for panic. All the departments have been directed to stay alert, a government spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that people should prepare an emergency kit with essential items for safety and survival in case the weather turns rough.
