As a precautionary measure, the Haryana police have started mapping cases of animosity that could possibly result in fatal incidents.

Information collection

Haryana Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Navdeep Singh Virk on Wednesday said the police have started collecting information about such cases from their reports and are developing a strategy to prevent any unfortunate incidents.

“We will systematically study police records and also collect information or intelligence regarding such cases where there is a possibility of murders or attacks due to prolonged past enmity. This process will continue till July 15,” Mr. Virk said.

State Director General of Police Manoj Yadava has directed top police officers, including the commissioners and superintendents of police, to depute a special team of police personnel to compile a database of such cases.

Unpreventable category

Mr. Virk said that such incidents come under the unpreventable category where a trivial issue suddenly takes an ugly shape.

“An analysis of cases of murders in the past few weeks in several districts of the State shows that the basic motive behind the crime was past enmity,” the Additional DIG added.
