Gujarat violence: Congress wants Chief Minister Anandiben Patel’s exit

The Opposition Congress has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Anandiben Patel saying the State government has failed to control the violence that claimed six lives during the protest by the Patel community in the State.

“Law and order has collapsed in the State because of the government’s inept handling of the situation,” Leader of the Opposition Shankarsinh Vaghela said. “What was the need to beat up the protesters without provocation?” He called the Chief Minister’s handling of the issue lackadaisical and amateurish.

The Congress legislators entered the Assembly on the first day of the Monsoon Session holding placards that read: “The curfew government must resign.”
