The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday asked State Advocate General to intervene and try to settle the dispute between the Jay Pee Workers’ Union and the management of Jai Prakash Power Ventures Limited, Karchham Wangtoo. A Division Bench comprising the Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary passed these orders on a writ petition filed by the Jay Pee Workers’ Union seeking directions to the Labour Commissioner to recall the reference made to the Industrial Tribunal on January 31 and to direct him to make a fresh reference by including all the demands of the Workers’ Union.

The Union has also sought quashing of orders of the Labour Commissioner under section 10(3) of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 prohibiting continuation of strike by workers and also quashing of the orders under section 144 Cr.P.C. of the District Magistrate, Kinnaur prohibiting holding of demonstrations, raising of slogans, carrying objects capable of use as weapons of offence and assembly of five or more persons likely to disturb public peace.

The Court has expressed hope that the matter will be settled within two days.
