The Goa Children’s Court on Monday extended the police custody of unattached MLA Atanasio Monserrate and mother of the rape survivor, in a rape and trafficking case, by two more days.

The court will pronounce its order on a bail application of Mr. Monserrate and two other accused — the mother of the girl and her alleged accomplice — on Thursday.

Mr. Monserrate and the other accused, currently in police custody, filed bail application in Goa Children’s Court on Saturday. The MLA and the girl’s mother, who allegedly sold the girl to the MLA for Rs. 50 lakh, were arrested on Thursday last week. The mother’s accomplice, Rosy Ferrol, was said to have ‘brokered’ the deal.
