Goa-Howrah train delayed by engine fire

PANAJI: The Vasco da Gama–Horwah Amaravati Express train was delayed for nearly two hours on Sunday, after the rear engine of the train caught fire near Cansaulim railway station in south Goa.

A South Western Railway spokesperson said no one was injured in the incident, which occurred shortly after the Amravati Express (18048) left Vasco da Gama railway station. He said a fire engine was requisitioned to the site. “There was a delay of two hours during which the engine was replaced,” the spokesperson said.
