Girl set on fire by two youths in U.P.

A 17-year-old girl was set ablaze allegedly by two youths at Unchagaon village here on Friday, a day after she resisted their molestation bid, police said on Saturday.

The incident happened when the girl was alone at her home in the Unchagaon village under Jalesarshe Kotwali, police said.

The two accused, Sonu and Virendra, gagged her and after pouring kerosene on her, set her on fire, according to the statement the victim made to SDM Sandeep Kumar Gupta and Circle officer.

The girl received 60 per cent burns and was rushed to a private clinic in Jalesar town which referred her to Aligarah hospital in a serious condition, police said.

A day before the incident, the accused had allegedly tried to molest the girl after entering her house.
