The engine of New Delhi-bound Garib Rath Express caught fire near Barahia railway station under Patna-Jhajha section in Bihar on Saturday, but a disaster was averted as the driver stopped the locomotive as soon as he spotted flames.

Railway sources said the flames were soon doused by the railwaymen and the damaged engine replaced with a new one before the train resumed its journey.

There was no casualty or injury due to the fire, which was believed to have been occurred due to a technical reason but rail traffic along Patna-Jhajha section was disrupted for about two hours, the sources said.
