Four youths were arrested by Vakola police in Mumbai on Friday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl.
A teenaged girl also arrested for taking the victim to one of the accused boy’s house. The youths allegedly committed the gang rape under the influence of liquor.
According to the police, the incident took place at the residence of Melvin D’Souza, one of the accused, at Gaondevi area in Santacruz in suburban Mumbai, on Thursday evening. D’souza invited the victim through his 16-year-old friend at his residence for his birthday party.
Sachin Yadav, Bipin Singh and Venkat Naidu were already present at the residence of D’Souza and all are the residents of Santacruz.
According to police, all of them took liquor while partying and after the victim lost her consciousness, they raped her. After returning home, she complained of pain to her mother. She was immediately admitted to the V.N. Desai hospital in Santacruz.
“The matter come to light after the hospital authorities informed us. A case of gang rape has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act against all the accused,” said Jitendra Pawar, Police Inspector, Crime of Vakola police station.
The police are investigating whether the victim’s drink was mixed with any substance to make her unconscious, which will be confirmed after the medical report. The arrested would be produced in a magistrate's court on Saturday.
