Four persons who were trying to swindle Rs.10 crore from a branch of Punjab National Bank through a fake cheque were arrested in Gajapati district of Odisha.
According to the police sources, four persons have been arrested by Garabandha police station in this case and two other accused are absconding.
As per reports, a cashew trader had deposited a cheque for Rs.10 crore allegedly issued by a Delhi-based firm in the Labanyagada branch of the PNB. As the amount was too large, the bank officials checked its authenticity, which was found to be fake. After that the bank official filed a case regarding it at the Garabandha police station. Apart from the cashew trader, the arrested persons also included the sarpanch of Labanyagada.
