The beleaguered former Goa Minister and Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco on June 4 sought that he be released on a 30-day parole to take care of his ailing 88 year old mother Ms. Luiza Pacheco.

Mr. Pacheco who has been jailed for having in 2006 assaulted Electricity department Junior Engineer, was sent back to Sada Sub Jail on Friday night from the State-owned Goa Medical College hospital where he was taken on Thursday after he complained of chest pain.

Activist lawyer Aires Rodrigues on Sunday stated that according to Mr. Bhanudas Pednekar the Assistant Superintendent of Sada Jail, Mr. Pacheco in his application seeking release on parole has stated that his mother is in a very critical condition and that he has to be by her bedside. Along with his parole application Mr. Pacheco has submitted a medical certificate on his mother’s health condition issued by a private doctor and not a government doctor.

Mr. Rodrigues described the application as yet another desperate and bizarre attempt by Mr. Pacheco to circumvent the law. Mr. Rodrigues has demanded that Mr. Pacheco’s application for parole should be strongly opposed by the police.
