Former CJ Manisana passes away

Rajkumar Manisana, who was elevated as the Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court on January 24, 1994, had also headed the National Human Rights Commission.

Rajkumar Manisana, former Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court, chairman of the National Human Rights Commission as well as the wage board for newspaper and news agency employees died in a private hospital in Imphal on Thursday. He was 82.

Chief justice of the Manipur High Court Laxmi Kanta Mahapatra was among those who condoled the death of Manisana.

He held many important posts including that of public prosecutor and Advocate General in Manipur before being sworn in as the judge of the Guwahati High Court on November 21, 1984.

He was appointed the Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court on January 24, 1994.
