Former Assam MP Biswajit Daimary’s 16-year-old son was located on Wednesday afternoon, about 24 hours after going missing from his boarding school in Kokrajhar town, about 220 km west of Guwahati.

Rakesh Roushan, Kokrajhar district’s Superintendent of Police said the boy, Amritraj Daimary, was found in Chapaguri in the adjoining Chirang district, but details were awaited.

“The missing son of ex-MP Biswajit Daimary has been located. A big relief for us,” said G.P. Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order).

Mr. Daimary had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in November 2020 after quitting the Bodoland People’s Front, which he had represented in the Rajya Sabha.

He had ruled out any foul play after police said his son had climbed over the wall of the private boarding school with the help of two friends.

“His classmates said he wanted to leave the school as he was probably not happy there,” Mr. Daimary told journalists, adding that his son could have gone to a friend’s place.
