Former aide of Ajit Singh joins SP

January 09, 2012 03:16 am | Updated July 25, 2016 07:46 pm IST - LUCKNOW:

Anuradha Chaudhary, one-time close aide of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Ajit Singh and a former MP, joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Sunday along with RLD MLAs Vimlesh Singh and Shahid Siddiqui.

Ms. Chaudhary was the Irrigation Minister in the Samajwadi Party-RLD coalition government headed by Mulayam Singh in 2003. She was in the RLD for about 16 years and was elected as MP from Kairana in 2004.

Talking to reporters at the SP headquarters, she slammed the RLD chief for entering into alliance with the Congress. Instead, he should have worked for the passage of the Land Acquisition Bill, she said.

Denying the possibility of contesting the coming Assembly elections, Ms. Chaudhary said she would campaign for the SP.
