A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court has summoned Lalu Prasad and Jagannath Mishra, two of the former Bihar Chief Ministers to appear in court here on February 14.
The case which surfaced in 2009 also dragged some prominent political figures into it. For the RC 20A/96 case, the court has asked Mr. Prasad to appear in person to give a statement in the case regarding the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 37 crore from the Chaibasa treasury. There are recorded statements of 330 other witnesses.
Statements of 46 accused, including those of Mr. Prasad and Mr. Mishra, will be recorded on February 13 and 14.
The court has also summoned suspended IAS officer Sajal Chakraborty to record his statement on Feb. 14. He had not turned up so far as he is undergoing treatment.
In a similar case, the CBI court has convicted 26 people and awarded them prison terms ranging from a year to six years. Two of Bihar's former ministers are accused in five cases in the fodder scam.
In 2000, 53 cases were transferred to Ranchi, after Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar.
When the scam came to light, 61 cases were filed.
