The women’s wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal staged a protest outside Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh’s residence here on Thursday, demanding strict action against a Minister accused of sending objectionable messages to a woman government official.
Shouting slogans against the Congress government, members of the Istri Akali Dal demanded immediate dismissal of the Minister from the government.
The protesters also submitted a memorandum, asking the Chief Minister to ensure a ‘safe workplace’ environment to all women employees.
‘Disclose name’
Istri Akali Dal, Mohali (Urban), president Kuldeep Kaur Kang said the name of the Minister against whom the allegations have been levelled should be immediately disclosed by the Chief Minister. The memorandum also called for dismissal of the Minister and registration of an FIR against him.
In a statement on Wednesday, Capt. Amarinder had said that the matter relating to the reported objectionable messages of the Minister to a woman government official had been taken very seriously and, to the best of his knowledge, resolved to the official’s satisfaction.
