Female dog brutalised in Goa, alleges Humane Society

The Humane Society International (HSI)-India has alleged that a female dog was brutalised and abused by an unknown person pushing a screwdriver in the animal’s private parts in the coastal village of Siolim. In a complaint to the Goa Director General of Police (DGP), HSI-India demanded registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and criminal investigation in the case.

The letter also urges DGP to issue an alert against the unknown abuser in the village of Siolim.

The complaint comes a few days after recent case of brutalising of a pregnant goat by eight persons in Haryana.

In a letter written by N. G. Jayasimha, MD, HSI-India, the society also demanded that a crackdown on those involved in animal cruelty can help keep such “dangerous criminals off the street.”

The alleged cruelty came to the fore after the six-year-old female dog was picked up on July 19 by volunteers of HSI, India near the Siolim fish market for animal birth control surgery earlier this month.
