Four militants were killed and one soldier lost his life in an ongoing exchange of fire in south Kashmir's Pulwama and Kulgam. Two CRPF jawans were injured in a grenade explosion near an encounter site.
Preliminary reports suggest three militants were encircled by the Army's 1RR, the CRPF and Special Operation Group in Kulgam's Redwani during an operation launched on Monday night.
"Three militants have been killed. However, the bodies are yet to be retrieved. The operation is on," said a police official.
In the Pulwama operation, a militant was killed in Reshipora area of Tral on Tuesday morning.
Initial reports suggest that he could be a member of Zakir Musa led-group Ansar Ul Ghazwatul Hind.
