‘Depute officers for inspection’

October 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Taking note of lack of cleanliness in several areas of the Capital, the Delhi High Court has asked the civic agencies to depute officers to check if their sanitary workers were performing their duties. If the workers are found failing in their duties, disciplinary action will be taken against them.

A public interest litigation petitioner, B.B. Sharan, on whose plea the court had earlier earmarked three areas in the city for the cleaning-up exercise, will accompany the inspection teams of the three municipal corporations and the Delhi government’s Public Works Department. Passing the directions, a Division Bench comprising Justice B.D. Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva said Mr. Sharan would counter-sign the inspection reports before they were submitted to the court. Mr. Sharan said the areas such as Karol Bagh’s Western Extension Area and Patparganj were still dirty even after the court’s directions.
