A local court has directed lodging of an FIR against Rajasthan Minister Babulal Nagar and policemen on charges of misusing powers after a man was allegedly threatened, assaulted and illegally detained for filing a graft complaint against him.

The court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate directed Shipra Path police station in Jaipur to register the FIR following a complaint by Rameshwar Lal Chaudhary.

Minister of State for Food and Civil Supply Babulal Nagar, Circle Officer Dudu-Rajpal Singh, SHO Phagi police station Sanwarmal Nagaura, SHO Dudu police station Vijay, and some other policemen have been named as accused in the matter.

The court issued orders on Saturday after Mr. Chaudhary alleged that a police team intercepted his vehicle, thrashed him and took him to the Phagi police station, around 20 km from Jaipur, where he was kept in illegal detention on August 29 and was released next day.

SHO Shipra Path Madho Singh said that he has not received the court orders so far and the case will be registered once the orders are received.

When contacted, the minister denied the charges and said he has nothing to do with this matter. He said Mr. Chaudhary was his political rival and targeting him to malign his image.
