October 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Jaipur:

The Rajasthan Congress leaders, led by State unit chief Sachin Pilot, met the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in New Delhi on Wednesday seeking a probe into State government’s alleged scam in allotting mines.

‘Loss of 45,000 crore’

According to Mr Pilot, the State lost up to Rs 45,000 crore due to the alleged scam in which the Raje government “acted in an arbitrary manner to allocate mining resources to its favoured individuals and entities”.

In the memorandum submitted to the CVC and the CAG, the Congress stated that 653 mines were allocated without following the procedure of competitive bidding.

‘Wrong allocation’

“The State Administration wrongfully allocated Mining areas, post-October 13, 2014, in a hurried and abrupt manner and distributed lakhs of crores worth of natural resources to their favoured persons and entities….

“We assess that the Government of Rajasthan could have reaped revenue of around Rs 45,000 crore had it chosen to adhere to competitive bidding,” the memorandum stated.
