The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will question Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar on Saturday in connection with the chit-fund cases. “As directed by the Supreme Court, Mr. Kumar will be questioned at Shillong in Meghalaya,” said a CBI official.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court while hearing an application moved by the CBI had directed Mr. Kumar to appear before the agency in Shillong and cooperate in the investigation. It also told the CBI that no coercive steps, including arrest, must be taken against him. The next hearing has been fixed for February 20.

Ahead of Mr. Kumar’s questioning, the agency has temporarily transferred 10 officials to Kolkata. The officials, including a Superintendent of Police (SP), three Assistant SPs and two Deputy SPs, will work with Kolkata’s Economic Offence Wing of the agency from February 8 to 20. They will report to the Joint Director.
